I think I have always had an element of desire to be creative, to be artistic which has manifested in different ways throughout my life. I used to draw a lot, and I still do occasionally. I have been working with Photoshop for longer that I have been able to take a half decent photograph, which happened purely by chance.

Photography fascinates me, my inspiration has always been to create a world that isn't quite fantasy, or reality, but a world that is bred from what I see around me, using everything real. The concept of using Photoshop to bring an animal into an image for example, does not appeal to me, I will find a way of bringing the actual animal into the image (where possible).

Starting to take photographs also opened the exciting world of styling, to the degree where I can sit around for hours hunting on eBay, going to Costume Sales, because I find the idea of styling a model so exciting, to bring a new dimension to your work through something as simple as a new outfit.

I am always seeking a new dimension, a new idea, a new outfit. That is the way I think we can progress as artists, and a way to expand horizons and become better at what we do.

I often laugh to myself at what I do, wandering around the woods in all kinds of weather with a model in a beautiful ballgown, standing at the side of a dual carriageway because there are some pretty flowers on the wall, whilst all the bemused drivers beep and stare.

I think photography is not just an art, but a way of life, it changes our perception of reality, and how we view what is around us. Once you've picked up a camera, your view of light changes, your view of what is beautiful and what is not and how you simply may pay a huge amount of attention to something that you would never have noticed before.
